Inspired by the Tour - Final Week

It's the final week of the tour...

It's a rest day again, so we're spinnin' up another recap. This year has delivered emotional finishes, upsets, and feels like we're a part of history - witnessing performances by potentially the greatest road cyclist of all time. Something that's really stood out for us this year is the frequent stories of sportsmanship and team work both between rivals and teammates.

Individual GC standings

At this point, it seems almost inevitable Tadej Pogacar brings home the yellow jersey for the 4th time (2020, 2021, 2024). But, the race isn't over and while 4:13 is a big gap to close, it isn't impossible. A fourth win would set Tadej up just one TdF victory away from entering the all time list of five wins that includes:

Jacques Anquetil ('57, '61, '62, '63, '64)

Eddy Merckx ('69, '70, '71, '72, '74)

Bernard Hinault ('78, '79, '81, '82, '85)

Miguel Indurain ('91, '92, '93, '94, '95)

No one has won the TdF six times and we have to imagine Tadej has this coveted title on his radar.

A big upset to the GC leaders this past week was Remco Evenepoel stepping out of the tour.

Current GC race leaders:

1. Tadej Pogacar: UAE Team Emirates XRG

2.  Jonas Vingegaard: Visma Lease A Bike (+4:13)

3. Florian Lopwitz: Red Bull - Bora - Hansgrohe (+7:53)

4. Oscar Onley: Picnic Postnl (+9:18)

5. Kevin Vauquelin: Arkea-B&B Hotels (+10:21)

Over Team Standings

Overall team standings seem pretty set for the top 2. With just one week to go Visma Lease a Bike has a somewhat comfortable 16:51 lead over UAE Team Emirates XRG. UAE has an even more comfortable lead on third (almost 34 minutes). However, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th place team standings will be interesting to follow.

There's almost a 40 minute gap between 5th and 6th, so I don't imagine the 3 teams fighting for 3rd, 4th, and 5th will change. However just 2 minutes separates Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, and Arkea-B&B Hotels.

Current Team Standings:

1. Visma Lease A Bike

2. UAE Team Emirates XRG (+ 16:51)

3. Red Bull - Bora - Hansgrohe (+ 50:38)

4. Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale (+ 52:38)

5. Arkea- B&B Hotels (+ 52:39)

Current Green Jersey (Points):

Jonathan Milan: Lidl-Trek

Current Polka Dot Jersey (Climber):

Lenny Martinez: Bahrain Victorious

Current White Jersey (Youth):

Florian Lopwitz: Red Bull - Bora - Hansgrohe

We're looking forward to what the next stages will bring and can't help but be inspired by some of the bikes the pro's are riding...

1- Visma-Lease a Bike

Riding: Cervelo

The historic team is currently leading in the points category. With notable powerhouse names like Jonas Vingegaard, Wout Van Aert, Simon Yates, Matteo Jorgenson, and Colorado native Sepp Kuss.

Going into the final week Jonas V. is 4:13 behind GC leader Tadej P. It would take an incredibly strong final week for Jonas to close that gap, but it isn't out of the question.

TPC always has a great range of Cervelo Bikes for you to choose from, including this limited edition Visma-Lease a Bike Replica:

2- UAE Team Emirates XRG

Riding: Colnago

Another powerhouse team lead by one of the greatest road cyclists of all time, Tadej Pogacar. Tadej is in a comfortable position to win this years TdF with over a 4min lead going into the final week, but nothing is certain. Jonas (2nd) is a very strong rider.

Stage 15 was exciting for UAE with rider Tim Wellens taking an overall stage win.

TPC doesn't get in as many Colnago's as we do Cervelo's and when we do, they do quickly. Ride the latest and greatest from the historic brand like this Colnago V4Rs:

3- Red Bull - Bora - Hansgrohe

Riding: Specialized

This team is lead by long time rider Primoz Roglic, who specializes in climbing and time trials. At 35, Roglic is one of the older riders in this years TdF, but his consistency and history put him in the running as one of the potential favorites coming into the race. Roglic is currently in 6th overall GC and very much within reach of cracking into the top 5. However, he would need to make up almost 3 minutes to reach teammate Lopwitz who's currently holding the final podium step.

4- Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team

Riding: Van Rysel

This team hasn't made any big splashes this year, but their consistent results as a team have managed to keep them towards the front in an impressive 4th place and just 2 minutes behind Red Bull - Bora - Hansgrohe. They'll need to stay extremely focused, though, as Arkea- B&B hotels is just 1 second behind them in team standings - a nail biter!

Of the hundreds of brands we've stocked over the years, surprisingly, TPC has never had a Van Rysel bike listed on our site. So, for the meantime, we had to borrow an image from Van Rysel to drool over. If you have a Van Rysel from 2018 or newer in good condition you're looking to get rid of, you could be the first to sell us one!

5- Arkea-B&B Hotels

Riding: Bianchi

Just 1 second behind catching 4th place and 2 minutes behind 3rd, Arkea- B&B Hotels is in a good position. Lead rider Kevin Vauquelin has had a very good tour, consistently staying towards the front and currently 5th overall.

Honorable Mentions:

Alpecin-Deceuninck (16th)

Riding: Canyon

While their team standing's aren't as strong (currently 16) Alpecin-Deceuninck is making their presence known. They kicked off this years tour with 2 of their riders claiming the yellow jersey early on: Jasper Philipsen won Stage 1, Mathieu Van Der Poel (MVDP) won stage 2. In stage 3 Philipsen was involved in a gnarly crash that forced him to leave the tour. Then, again in Stage 9, MVDP and his teammate Jonas Rickaert gave a big show by launching an immediate breakaway from the gun. Impressively, they held it for almost the entire 174km stage only to be caught with just a few hundred meters left.

Movistar Team (8th)

Riding: Canyon

Movistar team has a long history of success at the Tour de France dating back to the 80's. One of their most notable riders in recent years was Nairo Quintana. While they're current roster doesn't necessarily have any stand-alone stars, their consistency has put them towards the front of the team standings going into the final week.

EF Education - Easypost (10th)

Riding: Cannondale

There's something about EF Education - Easypost that makes it hard not to root for them. Maybe it's the way they push boundaries with kit and bike design (sometimes controversial). You can also check out one of their boldest bike paint jobs here.

Boldness aside, EF Education Easypost has had their share of star-studded riders over the years. This year, they've made their presence known with a stage 6 win from Ben Healy who even achieved the yellow jersey briefly.

Ineos Grenadiers (6th)

Riding: Pinarello

This year Ineos Grenadiers' long time rider Geraint Thomas is racing his final TdF. At 39 years old he's the oldest rider in the tour and we love it. Ineos Grenadiers goes into the final week in 6th place with a large gap (37+ minutes) to catch 5th.

Soudal Quick-Step (13th)

Riding: Specialized

Soudal Quick-Step has seen their fair share of the spotlight in this years TdF with victories in stage 3, 5, & 9. Coming into the 2025 TdF Soudal Quick-Step rider Remco Evenepoel was clumped into the top 3 favorites to win the race. Being one of the best time trialers, Evenepoel smashed Stage 5, winning by 16 seconds. Unfortunately, Soudal Quick-Step had a dissapointing 2nd week in the TdF with lead rider Remco stepping out of the tour siting a bad winter of training and fatigue not allowing him to continue.

Lidl-Trek (17th)

Riding: Trek

So far in this years TdF Trek's time in the spotlight came in Stage 8 where Milan Jonathan threw down a dramatic sprint finish to the line narrowly edging out Wout Van Aert.
