Let's talk saddles.

Fi'zi:k saddles to be specific.

Arguably one of the most important component choices on your bike. At TPC, we test ride every bike we sell. With almost 50,000 bikes sold, we've sat on a lot of saddles. Something we've noticed over the years is how often riders swap their stock saddles with a Fizik saddle, and we understand why. Fizik offers a variety of saddles for different ride styles and body types. When you sit on a Fizik saddle it's immediately evident the brand understands what cyclists are needing for long days on the bike whether you're riding bumpy gravel, smooth tarmac, or chunky singletrack. Fizik also incorporates unique design aesthetic that stands out in a crowd. The saddles ride well, look great, and when compared to similar level saddles in the industry almost always come out at the best price.

Some cyclists are more sensitive to saddles than others, but even the most tolerant have experienced really bad and really good saddles and appreciate the difference they make to your ride. But, how do you choose? There are so many shapes and sizes (for saddles and humans). This guide will help you decode Fizik's naming system, understand their technology, and become an informed saddle expert.

My First Experience with Fizik:

While visiting Wisconsin I borrowed my brother-in-laws Cannondale SuperSix EVO SE gravel bike for the week. It had a Fizik Terra Argo X3 installed and it was one of the most immediately comfortable saddles I've ever ridden. We rode some gravel on the Glacial Drumlin trail and some long pavement miles - it was smooth and comfortable the whole time for both. When I got home I ordered myself a Fizik Terra Argo X1 for the Checkpoint I was riding at the time. It was a game changer.

TPC understands that all bodies are different and while a saddle may check all the boxes on paper, it still might not be the one for you. Buy with ease knowing that all TPC purchases come with a 30-day, no questions asked return policy.

Naming System

Fizik’s naming system is based on riding disciplinesaddle shape, and technology level. Here’s how to decode it:

Then, the model name (e.g., Argo, Antares, Aliante) indicates the saddle shape:

Finally, the number/letter combo (00, R1, R3, etc.) reflects the material and performance tier:

Adaptive = Fizik’s 3D-printed padding for next-level comfort and pressure relief.

    • Fizik offers their Adaptive 3D-printed padding in 00, 1, & 3 tier saddles, bringing a new level of comfort to a wider variety of budgets.
