TPC Goes Racing: Our Top Bike Races & Events of 2024

Are you looking to challenge yourself in a bike race? Here's a list of our favorite road, gravel, MTB, and bikepacking events that we’re doing this year! Check them out, maybe we’ll see you there.

I’m just an average mid-packer, but bike racing is what gets me out of bed in the morning. Chasing riding goals motivates me to ride lotseat right, sleep better, and just take care of my body. I’ve also met some of my closest friends through training and racing.

Many of my co-workers here at TPC are the same. We’re bike geeks and fitness enthusiasts with the urge to compete, challenge ourselves, or accomplish scary goals. This year, I decided to make a list of all the events that TPC riders are entering. This list is mostly so I can send them messages on Slack cheering them on. When I can, I’ll also try to recap some of these events in the TPC Mag.

Our crew will be tackling everything from fast road crits to multi-day bikepacking epics. We’re doing some of these events for the first time. But a lot of these are events we have experience with and we’re returning because we love them. If you happen to be at one of these events, see if you can find us!

The 2024 TPC Race/Event Schedule

February

Old man winter course

Our Product Manager, Ethan, on the Old Man Winter course last year.

  • 2/4 Lyons, CO - Old Man Winter (Gravel)
    • 5 of us, including myself, will be starting our season off here! This will be my 5th time doing this race and it’s one of my favorites. The weather is unpredictable, so I wrote a little cold-weather kit guide for it.

March

April

May

Farrar racing trials MTBKeep an eye out for Doug (center) and his talented kids in Fruita and Bentonville.

June

Unbound gravel mudI'm hoping for better luck at Unbound this year.

July

Triple bypass bikeEthan at the legendary Triple Bypass last year.

August

Leadville 100 sub-9Leadville scares me, so I'll need some guidance from our Receiving & Catalog Supervisor/sub-9 finisher, Craig, this year.

September

  • 9/7 Salida, CO - Vapor Trail 125 (MTB)
  • 9/14 Purgatory, CO - Downhill Rockies (MTB)
  • 9/29 Boulder CO - Boulderthon Boulder Marathon (Run)
    • Yup. I'll be capping the season off with a marathon. This will be my first marathon and I am NOT a good runner. If you are, then this is another perfect opportunity to smoke me.

You might notice that we’re missing one of the biggest events in our home state of Colorado — SBT GRVL — a race that I’ve done the last three years. Unfortunately, none of us got in through the lottery. That’s just how it goes sometimes. Maybe we’ll get in next year.

Fortunately, we have plenty of alternatives, and I’m going to be pretty focused on Unbound and Leadville this year. There might be some more events that get added, but this is a pretty good schedule already.

If you’re going to be at any of these events, let me know! I hope you all have an eventful year ahead of you too.
