Allied Cycle Works is a bicycle manufacturer out of Bentonville, AR - one of the primary cycling epicenters in North America. To say the town of Bentonville is obsessed with anything two wheels would be an understatement, the level of passion is hard to fathom until you've visited. As such, it makes sense that one of the premier carbon manufacturers in the U.S. was born here. Allied Cycle Works (originally HIA Velo) began making premium carbon road bikes strategically utilizing a blend of pre-preg and Innegra high-modulus carbon fiber to give their bikes a truly unique ride feel.
Allied ABLE Gen 1
(2019-2024)
In 2019 Allied Cycle Works introduced the ABLE gravel bike, using the historic UNBOUND Gravel race as a launch pad. That year, both their male and female athletes rode the ABLE to victory and course records on the 200 mile course delivering a dramatic debut for the high performance gravel bike. The original Allied ABLE gravel bike featured an eye-catching elevated chainstay on the driveside of the bike to allow for up to 47mm tires up front and 45mm tires in back when using 700c wheels (up to 2.1" for 650b wheels) all while maintaining a nimble 420mm chainstay for quick handling. An additional benefit to this design was the ability to remove your chain without breaking it. A con to this design was the inability to run a 2x drivetrain, if that's your thing. Another huge draw to the original Allied ABLE - it was manufactured in Bentonville, AR. Making it one of the few carbon gravel bikes manufactured in the USA. At the time, 100% of Allied's manufacturing was in the USA.
Allied ABLE Gen 2
(2025-Present)
Fast forward to 2025, Allied launched their new ABLE. The new gravel boasts a massive 700 x 57mm tire clearance with sleeker lines and a more traditional frame design. Both chainstays are dropped substantially versus the elevated chainstay of the original design. The 2nd generation of the ABLE brings more aerodynamic focus to the frame design, fully integrated brake housing, integrated downtube storage, and designed around 1x wireless groupsets.
For those who choose Allied Cycle Works for their American Manufacturing, unfortunately the 2nd generation of the ABLE is now made overseas. If that isn't a deal-breaker, the 2nd generation ABLE will deliver more gravel tech at a lower pricepoint.
