Why We Love It
The 742 rim by Ibis is a light and dependable hoop, built upon the foundations of their popular 741 rim. Like its predecessor, the 742 has a wide body making it perfect for plus sized tires, and ideal for ultra-low pressures. The rims also feature a lower cross section height, which provides improved impact resistance. Ibis also made changes to the carbon layup, incorporating new layers of carbon/ epoxy pre-preg into their original composite. The 742's asymmetric design allows for higher spoke tension, providing increased stiffness and power transfer. By combining these improvements, Ibis made the 742 30% and 7.5% lighter than the previous generation.
