Ride 365

Why We Love It
Salsa Cycles is based in Minnesota, which means the Salsa engineers spend much of their year riding in cold snowy climates. The staff there is known for bike commuting 365 days a year no matter the weather - if you aren't familiar with Minnesota winters, it's a mighty impressive feat. To say they know their stuff when it comes to bikes that are good at riding in the snow would be an understatement. So, their love for "no-excuses" bike riding set them on a journey to design a fat bike for every time of snowy rider. For those who want a quicker fat bike ready to conquer podiums at events like the Fat Bike Birkie, they make the Beargrease. For the snow-seeking riders looking for as stable and confident of a ride even on the powderiest of days, the Mukluk is the ride. We loved the 26" wheels. They provide a massive footprint that allowed the bike to confidently float over the fluffy stuff. The geometry is slacker all around than the Beargrease, which puts the riders center of gravity further back. This made balance and stability top-notch and made for easy foot dabs around fast corners. We're all for bikes that allow us to pedal 12 months a year and we're big fans of the Mukluk.
Master Mechanic’s Notes
  • Light scratches on the brake levers, crank arms, & rear derailleur
  • Light scratches on the fork lowers & rear triangle
