Why We Love It
It's no secret that gravel is SO hot right now. If there isn't a gravel bike in your fleet, there should be! These bikes have come a long way and their versatility is incredible. There are several routes gravel bike design has gone. Some models are focused on the adventure or exploring angle, featuring huge tire clearance, super stable geometry and mounts galore for racks and gear. Others cater to the racing folk, offering a stable and confident ride with necessary tire clearance, but slimmed down to a lightweight and often aero focused ride that'll get you to the finish line fast! With Parlee's Chebacco borrowing proven characteristics from their Z-Series, Altum, and RZ7 performance road models, it seems at first they're targeting the latter. A high performance carbon frame delivers a responsive and light chassis. However, while many "performance" gravel bikes max out around 40-42mm tires, the Chebacco sets itself apart by achieving 700 x 45mm clearance, plenty to get rowdy on! The geometry tweaks to ensure the bike doesn't feel squirrely on the loose stuff include wider seat and chain stays, lower bottom bracket, and a slacker head tube angle - all successfully instilling confidence. They also didn't want to omit the adventurers. If you want to bring the gear along, Parlee included mounts throughout the bike to load it up. Kudos to Parlee for delivering a bike that'll hit the races and perform, but also doesn't shy away from long overnight adventures.
Master Mechanic’s Notes
  • Light scratches on the shifters, crank arms, seat post, & rear derailleur
  • Light scratches on the front rim, head tube, & non-drive side chainstay
