Meet Andy
(and his dog Sandy)
What initially got you into bikes?
My dad’s friends got him riding road, and I wanted a cool bike too. I mowed lawns all summer to buy a used Trek X01 from my LBS (local bike shop).
Proudest cycling accomplishment?
I think it has to be my trip to collegiate road nationals where I led out my teammate for 2nd place only to be beaten by a good friend of ours. I managed to hold on for 9th. It was a wild day.
Favorite bike memory?
Racing under the Friday night lights at Tulsa Tough was something I’ll never forget. The roar of the crowd was intoxicating. That said, the fat tire crits in the Epic Rides series are unreasonably fun, too.
What type of riding do you do?
I mostly ride gravel and MTB, but race a lot of crits, XC MTB, CX, and gravel.
Favorite ride?
I love the riding at Handcut Hollow in Bentonville AR.
How many days a week are you currently riding?
1-7… I used to train a lot, but now I keep it fun and ride when I want to ride.
How many bikes are in your fleet currently? Have a favorite?
8 bikes in my garage right now… The Pivot Mach 4 SL has to be my favorite! I would love to add a Stumpjumper EVO, or a RAAW JIBB to the fleet.
Do you have a bike you let go of that you wish you’d kept? Why?
Not really! The way tech is improving, I’ve always been happy with my upgrades.
What’s your favorite thing about working at TPC?
The crew of people we have here makes everyday worth it! We all love bikes and want to make sure our customers have a great experience.
Any cool bike trips coming up?
I'm headed to California for my road team’s training camp soon-- time to go do some climbing (for the descents, of course).
Do you prefer stock builds or putting together your own build from the frame up?
Custom, custom, custom! I’m a little picky :)
If building from the frame up, what’s your favorite build you’ve done?
My favorite builds have honestly been for my friends and family. There’s something special about building something for the people you love.
Frame material of choice? Carbon, Aluminum, Ti, Steel etc…
It’s really hard to argue with modern carbon, but alloy race bikes have a special place in my heart.
Are you a data geek?
I’d say I am a recovering data geek. I no longer have a power meter, and I feel free!
Solo rides or group rides?
I ride solo a lot, so a ride with friends that make the miles tick by is my favorite!
Baggies or Spandex?
T-shirts and cargo bibs all day.
Go-To during ride nutrition/snack?
Peach rings and concha bread.
Where’s home ?
Denton, TX is home *for now!
Favorite cycling event to follow/watch?
I love watching XC short track and Cyclocross.
Prefer morning rides or evening rides?
Evening rides are a great way to wind down from the day, especially when they end with margaritas and tacos.
