Cycling Power Meters For Sale

Bikes are meant
to be used.

Power meters have changed the way we train and race. If you put one on your bike, it will change the way you ride. Power; as measured in watts, is force times distance over time, and it tells how hard you're going regardless of speed or heart rate. Power, wind, tire pressure, or drafting will not change your effort. 300 watts is 300 watts.

Power became a thing when SRM debuted their crank-based cycling power meter. Racers found they could precisely quantify their training. Now, we have not only crank-based power meters but bottom bracket, chainring, hub, and pedal-based meters. Popular power meter brands include 4iiii, Favero, Garmin, Power2Max, Rotor, Shimano, Stages, SRM, Quarq, and Wahoo.

One thing that might not be obvious: one needs a bike computer or smartphone to read, interpret, and record the wireless signal sent by the meter.

Stages Power Meters

Stages figured out how to build a crank-based meter that could easily sit on a crank arm rather than a purpose-built spider. The unit is affixed to any number of conventional cranks, usually on the left arm, sometimes on both arms. Stages power meters can be found on Ultegra R8000 arms, Dura-Ace, FSA, Campagnolo, and more.

Garmin Power Meters

Garmin’s first power meter pedals were called Vector and were either one or two-sided. Garmin has made three iterations of the Vector and since moved on to Rally. Garmin’s Rally pedals have two power-sensing pedal spindles, left and right, and are combined with either an SPD, SPD-SL, or Look-compatible pedal bodies. Bonus: bodies can be switched with the spindle staying the same.

4iiii Power Meters

4iiii is similar to Stages; their meters are affixed to the inside face of crankarms. 4iiii power meters are arguably the smallest and lightest. Their power meters can be found on crank arms from Campagnolo, Cannondale, FSA, Praxis, Shimano, and SRAM. 4iiii meters can be mounted on both carbon and aluminum crank arms for road and mountain bikes. 4iiii makes both coin cell and rechargeable models as well.

Quarq Power Meters

Quarq crank spider-based power meters began as a way to have an SRM for less. The company, now part of SRAM, has a wide range of offerings. They make power meters for SRAM’s AXS (Red, Force, Rival) groups as well as for 1x applications and spiders for five-bolt and four-bolt chainrings.
