In 1995 Cervélo introduced the Baracchi, their first time-trial frame with no seat tube and massive aero handlebars. The UCI quickly declared the Baracchi not legal for competition, so Cervélo shifted to designs that fit more easily within expectations and regulations. While hewing closer to expectations, they kept the engineering-first approach, working extensively in the wind tunnel and with rider data to make fast bikes. A radical-for-the-time P3 won the Olympic time trial in 2008.

Today, Cervélo has three lines: the entry-level P, the pro-level P5, and the extreme, triathlon-only PX. All are more aero, ride better, and are easier to adjust than their world-conquering P3. From the base-level P to the PX, each model nets more integration, storage, and less regard for norms. The P-series embrace the wind tunnel and the ability to slice through the air like a hot knife through butter while being comfortable enough to propel through the entire 112-mile Ironman bike leg.
