The legendary Mavic has been associated with some of the greatest moments in cycling history. Racing fans know the bright yellow neutral service car that has followed pro pelotons since 1973, but Mavic’s history goes even deeper. Mavic began as a small workshop in 1889 and built the first alloy rims in the 1930s, replacing the heavy wooden wheels pros were riding at the time. Fifty years later, Mavic began its first experiments with carbon wheels, and today Mavic makes wheelsets ranging from affordable, lightweight alloy models to cutting edge aero carbon hoops used by pro teams and world record setters. Mavic also sells helmets, shoes, and apparel, expanding to provide high-performance equipment for cyclists of every level.
